Wyoming Whiskey

Wyomingites, bourbon drinkers or not, are mighty proud of what will be released late this year.

Three years aged, huh? I'm actually impressed by a craft distillery for once. Here's hoping it's not 3 years in 5 gal barrels. ;) If they even used quarter casks this might be worth a shot.

Not 5-gallon barrels. And not quarter casks. Full sized.

I've been there several times. Great, small, facility. They were working on a site location for their third warehouse last summer. Their first release will be whiskey distilled the first summer (July 4th - September) so a really small release.

Great article!! Good luck to Wyoming Whiskey. Interesting difference in terminology, a 'whiskey thief' shown noted in one of the photo captions appears to be the US version of a 'valinch'. 8-)
The wishlist is always growing...

Finally! Real bourbon in real barrels from an "artisan"/"craft" (whatever that means....) distillery. This is good news - hope it's a success (tastes good). Are they setting some aside to age longer? I'm guessing this 3 yo will be a little green.

Yes.

A tidbit not included in the article: The warehouses aren't climate controlled. If you've never had the pleasure of visiting Kirby, Wyoming, if they had sidewalks you could cook eggs on them in the summer, and the winters, well, let's just say you don't put your tongue on the flag pole a second time.

That's good news about more aging.

Yes, I've had the pleasure of visiting WY. The climate should/maybe make interesting bourbon - we know what hot summers do for it but the BITTER cold, lonnnnnng winters? Scotland winters aren't really comparable & KY winters are not even close to that league. I'm looking forward to trying this bourbon.

If you get your hands on some, please let us know how it tastes!
