This was a tasting I did on my own and therefore not related to Aalborg Whisky Club.
The venue was the basement of an old Merchants house from 1616 now converted into an Irish pub
We tasted:
• Hazelburn 1998 8yo, 58,7% - Refill sherry butt, 600 bottles
• Springbank 1997 9yo, 60,2% - Fresh rum butt, 700 bottles
• Springbank 1993+1997 11yo, 48,7%, 180th Anniversary bottling, 2 x refill sherry casks, 850 bottles
• Springbank 1995 14yo, 57,1%, Fresh sherry pipe, 576 bottles
• Springbank 1990 17yo, 51,5%, Refill port hogshead, 570 bottles
• Longrow 1996 12yo, 57,6%, Fino sherry butt, 600 bottles
+ a surprise that was the first Kilkerran ever bottled, a 3yo at 62% from a port cask for The Tasting Room in Campbeltown. People's favorites was the 17yo Port version, the 14yo Fresh sherry and the Rum butt, but it does not go without saying that all whiskies was way above average
Dont want to bore you with long detailed notes, but I'll post some pics instead:
