Turf Mor and bog oak

Postby Aidan » 05 Nov 2010, 00:16

A few things from Cooley. I haven't tasted the Turf Mor, but it's getting a great reception everywhere.

And the best thing is that it's going to be sold at a proper price for a young cask strength whiskey... €22.50.

Also, they're experimenting with things, including bog oak. Don't know what it could possibly add, but sure it's a bit of fun.

It's a very good whisky, but the price you quote is only wishful thinking ;)

I just received a release note from Cooley:

Connemara Turf Mór is due to be launched this December 2010. It is going into the following markets, UK, Benelux, Germany and Ireland. We have positioned the whiskey above our Connemara Cask strength and below our Connemara 12 Year old, in Ireland this price point would be circa €60.00.

In case anyone is interested in tasting notes:

Aidan posted this in early November and if I'm right he's tasted it by now as I believe the Irish Whisky Society's last tasting included a bottle of this that Cooley took along.

I've also tasted it and yes, it really is pretty good and that price range in Germany would mean €40 to €60, once again it's interesting to see the massive price difference between Germany & Ireland.

It's about £40-45 for the standard Connemara CS so I'd expect it to be the same for the Turf Mor.

I've tasted it and the Connemara CS and I'll pick up a bottle when it's released.

I see the chaps over on the Irish Whisky Society forum have posted the price as being €65 in Ireland, which probably means about €55 here in Germany.
