DYC 5 years old Spanish Blended whisky

Postby mblanch » 01 Mar 2011, 17:58

This regular DYC release is a blend of malt and grain whiskies that have been matured in crianza red wine casks. The whisky is marketed to be low budget and is popular in Spain as it is much cheaper than Scottish, Irish or American whiskies. It is designed to be mixed with non alcoholic beverages and be easy drinking in the hot weather.

Nose (19): Sweet, honey, vanilla, alcohol, peaches, cherry.
Taste (22): Sweet, honey, vanilla, malt, wood, cherry. With water it becomes more fruity.
Finish (19): Vanilla and wood.
Balance (20): A bit light but not bad.

Score: 80

A bit light, but there is a good product here given its price, around 9€. I like the way fruits and vanilla are combined.
