76.37

Nose: Stewed oranges, but only through the eau of struck matches. It kind of masks any other aromas.
Palate: Quite powerful sulphur on the palate like the fruit has been burnt on to the pan and left to carbonise.

A drinkable dram, but too heavily sulphured for my taste.

Mortlach 13yo SMWS 76.37 57.8% 1990-2004 "burnt orange"

Nose: I can see why the Society called it Burnt Orang, but there's more sherry (raisins) than anything else, o my nose. Nicely spicy too!

Palate: A bit of burnt rubber hits me first. Then it smooths out into sherry, with those oranges from the nose.
Rich and mouth-coating.

Finish: The sherry is still strong and the orange has gone. Medium length

Mortlach 13yo ( 57.8%, SMWS, Cask #76.37, June-1990 )

Glass: SMWS Glass

Nose: Carmel, some toffee, and a hint of citrus zest.

Palate: Really smooth, huge sherry influence here. Sweet sugars, some bitter chocolate and a hint of wood smoke.

Finish: Long and smooth, some oranges, and a tad bit of rubber tires, but in a very intriguingly tasty way.

This is a great example of another great Society cask. Matured in an European oak, ex sherry cask, this one is great!!

9/10/08

Glass: SMWS glass

Nose: Nice and spicey, tofee and oranges.

Palate: A bit of sulphur, burnt rubber, on the palate to start, but then it goes into a nice mix of more spices, dried fruits and orange peels.

Finish: Nice spicey long finish.
