Thanks everyone.
She had been pretty seriously ill for some time now and when I visited last year I was kind of warned that she may just have a few weeks to live.
She was a very tough lady and fought on for much longer than anyone dared to think or believe.

But it's still hard even when you know it may come anytime.

:( Winner of this years Indy 500. He was only 33, with a wife and two young boys. It was a 15 car crash that sent three other drivers to hospital. :(

Thanks once again everyone for your kind words and thoughts.
We just booked flight tickets today for myself & Mrs Malty from Munich to Manchester next Thursday, returning Sunday.

The funeral will be next Friday in North Wales which is where my step-family live. Mum was in a home there.

RIP Jimmy Savile, he certainly 'fixed' a lot of dreams!

(for anyone who doesn't know, "Jim'll fix it" was a programme that was screened for years on British TV (was is shown elsewhere?) on which Sir Jimmy made the wishes of countless youngsters come true)
I must remember to forget....

He also hated kids, apparently. Could be a myth, of course. He also hosted Top of the Pops and wore tracksuits.

Aye, a sad loss indeed.
As you know I was over in Blighty, or at least N.Wales for my own loss over the last few days and was saddened even further to hear about Sir James.

I grew up in an area of Leeds called Roundhay, famed for its Park and Sir James owned a house there, overlooking the large lake.
He was also famed for his voluntary work as a porter at Leeds' St. James' hospital, or was it the Leeds Infirmary? Anyway, long before the days of Stoke Mandeville he was a local radio DJ and doing local voluntary work in a hospital in Leeds. I used to know various people who had been wheeled into the Operating Theatre for major surgery by a rather crazy chap who went out of his way to cheer and relax them before their major surgery.

A true gentleman, albeit a little crazy and rather eccentric.
A sad loss.
Malty
