We finally got some snow that stuck to the ground last night (and it was the big fluffy snow that falls slowly...i.e. the stereotypical 'romantic' snowfall in movies)!! Very windy afterwards...wasn't sure the siding on the house would hold...

Horizontal snow. Temp: 29ºF. Wind: (call the sheriff) it's exceeding the town's 35 mph speed limit.

Here, yes. Just back from Arran. No ferries for the past day and a half.

A clear blue sky, so sunny and cold. It's been like this for a few days now. Very cold at nights but quite breezy so no frosts.

Temp: -2ºF. Calm. This will be our ninth straight day of sunshine. For now, intermittent horizontal rows of wispy pink-orange-salmon clouds against dawn's pale-blue sky resemble a rugby shirt on a portly gent.

Awoke this morning to crystal clear skies and a thick white frost. Perishing cold all day and freezing cold out there right now. Stars are out.

I was up in the alps today. They had unusual amounts of snow the past two weeks and it was a real winter wonderland with roads with snow higher than the car on both sides. Sky was blue without a cloud and I had a pleasant walk in a snowy forest with the mountain faces in front of me. Temperature was freezy but luckily there was no wind. magnificent sunset with all colors from yellow to orange and, strange enough, purple.

It snowed several days ago now and the snow - in this area at least - is still here. I just love the snow and everyone's perpetual moaning about it just cheers me up.

It's rare when i'm the only one not moaning.

It has been very cold, regularly well below freezing and i noticed the tabloid warnings are for temperatures of -15.

I'm with you in a way Pete. I picked up some work last friday so I wouldn't have to go out in the snow. However I've got to deliver this cabinet back tomorrow. The client owns an estate just off the A1 near Borehamwood. I spoke to him yesterday and he said they still have a good covering of snow on the drive which is about half a mile long. The problem is I use a box trailer to move furniture these days. Don't fancy sliding around. The cabinet had to have some restoraition work done to it. It weighs a ton takes four men to lift and move it. Still well below Zero this morning hope for some more thawing today. But it's not forecast to get above freezing today so it probably won't happen. And forecast for minus 10 on saturday night. :-o

...I still waiting for the other (winter) boot to drop. I'm envisioning the six - eight weeks, starting in the next two weeks, of sub-zero temps and/or tons o' snow. The first snow of February is finally falling in Southern Ontario today/tonight.

Les I had heard -15 forecast.
And last night (Friday night) it must have got below that - it's -14.3 out there at 8am!

We've had another couple inches fall. Beautiful white landscape under a blue sky - makes for cold temperatures.

Fogged in this morning. Rare for us. Can't see the length of a football field (yours or ours). No wind (too obvious I guess: can't have fog in a wind). Temp is 13F. The chickadees, red poles, and grey-crown rosy finches aren't bothered by any of it, just munching away on the sunflower seeds. Peaceful--they're the only ones stirring.

We had snow forecast for today, but ended up with an insignificant dusting. Our poor plow guy blew out the tranny in his truck in the two feet of cement that fell in October, and has had no opportunity to recoup his losses since. Bad winter for him so far.
