I was just wondering what podcasts folks here subscribe to. I guess the vast majority of us listen to WhiskyCast every week....but what else do we cram our ipods etc with..here are mine to start with:

WhiskyCast
Desert Island Discs
Friday Night Comedy (Radio4)
Comedy of the Week (Radio4)
The Infinite Monkey Cage (Radio4)
The Naked Scientists (Radio4)

I have flirted with other stuff but these are my staples.

I don't believe I have ever done such a thing.

If I didn't I would have to listen to old ladies conversations on bus journeys  :?

I used to listen to Whiskycast religiously...one week I saw that Murray was on, and I didn't want to hear it. Haven't heard it since. My loss, because it's definitely worthwhile. But I guess the whole podcast thing is contrary to my way of thinking, anyway--it's a miracle I stuck with Whiskycast as long as I did.

Listened to WhiskyCast once for about 15 minutes.
Found it to be too much like a long advertisement so I stopped.

Don't listen to any others. I prefer to read various blogs.

Yeah - WhiskyCast: many times it is one longggggg advert. (jeez, the pcasts @ x-mas last year were so ad-heavy I skipped them & the worthless pat-on-the-back email posts that he reads every week - bleh!) but there is almost always some good info. so I usually listen to it.

I listen to podcasts when I'm running/walking & driving to my lakehouse. I like NPR podcasts of their shows:
Science Friday
Talk of the Nation - especially Political Junkie day (only Wednesdays)
KCRW Bookworm
On The Media
&:
Guardian Book podcast
Onion Radio News (so funny!)

I have listened to Mark's WhiskyCast podcast since it first came out and, although you can't please everyone all the time, I have generally been very impressed with his professionalism and the information he provides.

But it has changed in the last couple of weeks. We know that Mark is independent and I genuinely believe he is doing his best to stay objective in the face of the onslaught of the marketing machinery. Hard, though. But now the podcast has changed its format and not only contains longish promotional ads in middle of the show, but also at the beginning i.e. throughout. This, I find, detracts from the content and integrity. The jingle at the beginning was Mark's theme and introduced the show well. Now I start off annoyed.

Mark, if you read this, and I believe you do follow this forum, please don't let the ads get in the way of what I consider to be by far the best whisky podcast out there.

Yes - like that silly twittering "redbreast" - that is so annoying/cheesy. I laughed out loud the first time I heard it & then the "plummy" voice announcer w/the bad Redbreast marketing jumbo - I thought it was a joke! Now, I hit the skip button immediately. bleh

Fighting Talk (5 Live) - Amusing panel style show, a bit like Round the Horn on ESPN.

Mayo and Kermodes Film Reviews (5 Live) - Masters of film reviews, with some really interesting interviews.

Scott Mills Daily (Radio 1) - Trying to hold on to my youth with this one, can be laugh out loud funny.

The Tuesday Club - An Arsenal Podcast with Alan Davies - Very Arsenal orientated, but quite entertaining for non-Arsenal fans as well (especially at the moment).

Ricky Gervais - Starting to go him, but some moments of genius still.

Baddiel & Skinner on Absolute Radio - These were available during the 2010 Football World Cup, follows them through the tournament, brilliant to hear them so enthusiastic in the beginning and then coming to terms with the abject performances that England produced.
