Walking on a treadmill carrying a fridge !!!

Postby Exciseman » 01 Apr 2012, 14:01

Yesterday, there was a charity event at our local Asda. A soldier was walking on a treadmill with a full-size fridge on his back. Seemingly, he power walks half-marathons this way!

I was chatting away to him happily enough about his achievements when the nightmare question was uttered "Do you want a go?". Every part of me screamed "No", yet "Yes" came out of my mouth.

Within minutes, I was walking on the treadie - at a very slow 3.5kph - with a fridge on my back. Hard is not the word!!!!! It isn't so much the weight of the thing (which is bad enough), but the sheer bulk/size of it. There is no way you can walk bolt upright, or you'd just fall backwards. Instead, you have to adopt a crouch position.

Not for me, but a brilliant experience !!!!

No photos, but I swear that this isn't an April Fool. This guy is a well-known charity fundraiser.

Asda is near to the footie ground and there was a big crowd (due to it being children's day). So, I'm guessing that the guys (7th Rifles?) thought that they'd get maximum donations.

Reminded me of the Tony Hawks book Round Ireland With A Fridge, it's an ok easy read with a few laughs (and smaller fridge).
I've spent a lot of money on whisky and women, the rest i squandered

Yes, that Around Ireland with a fridge was a great read.
So was his second one about playing the Moldovians at tennis!
