Hi arkle

Yes it was one I printed myself from a while back from their website. It expired at the end of this month, and there wasn't a any problem with it.

Worth going back and questionning it.

Nectar d'Or

Have noticed that Sainsburys, in Edinburgh region at least, have the Glenmo Nectar on sale for £30. Great value, especially if you have Nectar points to burn.

Oh bother, and I was in my local Sainsbury's earlier this afternoon but for once I didn't trundle my trolley up the spirits aisle. I'm trying to remember what I've forgotten so that I'll have to pop back in tomorrow.

Glenfiddich 12yo at £22.79 (£10 off) yesterday evening in my local Sainsbury's.

At this price I'm considering it as a candidate for guilty pleasure....

Sainsbury at Breahead Glasgow had £10 off 10yo Glenmorangie and 25% Talsiker 10 making the both about £25.

Also 25% off bottled Ale's, got myself some Old Jock! lol
If I had all the money I've spent on whisky, I'd spend it on whisky.

I saw these offers too in my local Sainsbury's yesterday - must be a nationwide promotion. It's all in honour of "Father's Day" next Sunday. I imagine that the Dads amongst you are dropping a few unsubtle hints at the moment .... ;)

Noone ever does whisky promotions for "Mother's Day" though - grossly unfair. It's usually all about flowers and chocolates for Mothering Sunday..... not that I qualify anyway - unless you count furry four-legged charges. :?

These are the Father's Day "promotions" by my local liquor monopoly:
http://www.vintages.com/circular/120609 ... shtml#/28/
flip one page to find:
Glenfiddich 21 ~€184
Macallan 25 ~€620
JW Blue ~€225
What an "honour" it would be to receive one of the these three prized bottles at such discounted prices. (the price of the blue actually went UP $40 just before the release of the catalogue)

Popped into my local Sainsbuys today and snapped up a "Taste the Difference" Speyside for £13.79 :-o . Just tasting it now and it's very nice. I would say it's worth £13.79 of anybodies money even though it's only 500ml.

The very pleasant Jura Elixir 35cl bottle has popped up again in my local Sainsbury's at the discounted price of £11. Having enjoyed the Elixir I bought around Christmas time, I treated myself to a replacement! ;)

I really like these small bottles - so very handbag friendly.

Thanks for the heads-up Drew. When i first read that i thought that the £5 off was a good offer, i'd forgotten that the price was originally £29 and it's a £15 off deal. :D

I must confess that afterwards i was glad the offer had ended and i didn't buy one, even just to try it. That £11 would be better spent on a 'back, crack, and sack'.

Why? :? I understand that Jura is meant to be a magical place.... and an elixir is a magical potion.

Cheap. You need to be careful where you go (if you're to avoid the need for a remedial potion).

All of the 50cl Taste the Difference 12yo Single Malts (NCF 46%) are now marked down from £28 to £13.

There was no "Speyside" in my store, but I got the "Highland" and the "Islay"

Looks like those 50cl/ncf/46% are being discontinued, i noticed the other day some new 'Taste The Difference' bottles on the shelf. They're still 12yo and are now without a tube, and are back to 70cl and 40%, priced £20.49 iirc.

Have you tried the Highland yet, and if so, any good? My local Sainsbury's still have both the Highland and the Speyside Taste the Difference offers running, with a fair amount of each on the shelf and I'm contemplating the Highland one.

I've not tried any yet. It has been a bit of a wine week.

I think that the 46% 50cl versions were actually designed to be the replacement for the older 40% 70cl versions. The 70cl versions have definately been around longer.

That seems an excellent price for a very enjoyable blend (at least when I last had it).

Thanks for the heads up, Nelbongo.

I tried the "Speyside" tonight. Not what I was expecting. I had visions of a 'cuddly teddy bear' of a dram, but this had more than a touch of 'grizzly' in it. Only a cub maybe, but 'grizzly' nevertheless.
