Eddu Silver Single Malt

Eddu Silver Single Malt

Postby Nick Brown » 17 Nov 2008, 22:32

Eddu means buckwheat in the Breton language - this whisky has buckwheat in the mashbill

N: young, fruity, apples, sweet, sugared almonds, melon, feinty, slight leather

T: sweet, fruity, ginger and melon, pineapple cubes, sweet lemon, vanilla, cinnamon, sandalwood, roses, creamy, aniseed, red licorice

F: grappa, spirity, young, intense fruit, redcurrant, slightly grassy, sweet, vanila, perfume, honeycome with beeswax, weetabix

This is young whisky and the feinty notes are still there. But held long enough in the mouth, real character comes through. This will be a stonking whisky when it is fully mature.

Nose: Orange marmalade, peppermint and spearmint, pear drops.
Palate: A bit of a punch up on the taste buds. Dusty sugars, rough spices, hot spikes.
Finish: The hot theme continues with peppercorns and chillies.
Comment: Another decent French malt. Complex, but unbalanced.

It is better to have drunk it all than never to have drunk at all.
