I received an email today saying that my Sunday tickets have now been posted and should arrive shortly.
I assume it will be the same for all

Maybe, I am just checking with the person that I have offered the Sunday ticket to if they would rather have the Saturday

Can anyone recommend some decent accommodation, ideally within walking distance of the event?

Doesn't need to be anything fancy, just somewhere to crash on the Saturday night.

Hey all,

Just a quick note for people attending the whisky fringe this weekend. As some (most) of you are probably aware there has been some negative feedback from 'The Cask and Barrel' pub opposite the venue in previous years.

As a general rule imposed by them every year, Whisky Fringe attendee's generally are refused service. It is unfortunate that this is the case as it is a great pub.

Therefore I suggest people try other pubs/bars in the area to minimise any confrontation or complaints about the Whisky Fringe.

Personal recommendation would be the Windsor on Leith Walk (it has just been re-vamped by the owners of The Blue Blazer and has a great selection of ale/bourbon/rum/whisky)

Hopefully all Fringers (or at least the people who placed the order for the tickets) will have received a PDF of the program. Again, it's a slightly absurd selection of whiskies and rums and our suppliers are really spoiling you again. Wait till you see the Orange list which is even sillier.

Additions that might interest you...
Balblair 2000 OB
Renegade Black Rock (the Islay of the Carribbean) (well kind of)
Renegade Jamaican Rum
Plantation 20th Anniversary Rum
Ron Los Valientes 15 Mexican Rum

Here's a pointer if you're worried you might get Indian Restaurant Syndrome*. Imperial Octave by Duncan Taylor before and after sample. Should be right up the street of the seriously malt addicted looking for something a little different.

*This is a made up term to the feeling in a curry house where the menu is so massive that you panic in the face of so many choices and just order what you always have. I don't want anyone ordering Chicken Tikka Marsala at the weekend.

Another cracking event. Well done to all at RMW and of course the exhibitors. It was great to chat to so many familiar faces and try some cracking drams. I'll put a full write-up online soon but for now I need another cup of tea!

You either have very bad taste or a well developed level of sarcasm. And so does Dave Broom (the bad taste, he's a very sincere man). That was his shirt. He forced me.

twas awesome as usual although we did have to shout to be heard over the rum lads' shirts.

Made a bit of a fool of myself in the pub with two lads from Galsgow...you're still barred though.

Eh, was I there? I don't remember anything.

Good to see you again Mark. It's been too long. I'll really need to get through for a tasting soon!

It was also great to meet ClubSmed and Douglas from the forum.

Arthur and everyone at RMW did a great job in absorbing the new regulations to deliver yet another classic weekend in the whisky calendar. I'm still amazed just how relaxed and good natured the whole event is.

Great also to catch up with Leither, Mark and Neil from Cadenheads, Martin from Ardmorangie, the unique Ralfy, and butephoto - good to be able to thank Mark in person for all his efforts with this forum.

Plus a shedload of (other!) industry legends, all in a marvellous setting.

I'm sure there was something else. Oh yes..., and plenty of very fine whiskies and rums. Simply superb.
