Colour: Gold - dark gold.

Nose: Vanilla, nuts, biscuits, some honey. Not getting too much of the sharpness associated with a grain whisky. Beeswax. Pears, perhaps. No, pear juice - concentrated.

Mouth: Thick, oily. I could almost chew on this. Some fruit and sugars gradually appear. Boiled fruit sweets. Delicious. It's so thick it's like custard. It has the thickness of a liqueur.

Finish: Long, juices. Sweet honey and a very subtle hint of bitterness at the end to balance the sweetness.

Comments: It really doesn't get much better than these old Invergordons from Raymond. Another class bottling (with little bits of charcoal and things floating around too!). Get them while you can.
