Atchison, Kansas, is known for a) Atchison-Topeka-Santa Fe railway, b) Amelia Earhart.

I stopped by the other day and took a few photos.

Her home/museum:

She enjoyed a rather nice view from her house while growing up:

Hi Bud, nice photos, the forum program has cropped them unfortunately, they can be dragged to Preview or viewed in the 'Expand View' after PostReply.

The worlds most famous missing person. I read a good book about the events leading up to her disappearance a year or so ago, i forget the title. I did a quick read on wiki to see how the latest theories were coming on - those waters are as murky as the Missouri River.

You'll have to excuse my lack of computer knowledge - i am getting there slowly. My Mighty Mouse isn't having it, so i tried pressing ctrl + click and then 'open image in new window', i assume thats the Mac equivalent.

Having said that, for me, its easier to drag the image onto the preview icon thats sat on the dock.

Yeah, I realized that the photos were going to come out like that, but was too lazy/tired to adjust them.

That day I visited Seth Fox who operates http://www.highplainsinc.com/

Seth is a great guy and we spent nearly two hours chatting about whisky and stuff. I will write more about his operation when I catch some free time to do so, perhaps this weekend. In a couple of weeks a bunch of us will go to visit the distillery and have a little tasting session with Seth.

Bud, he refers to single malts on the site but no info, i'd be interested to know what you learn.

I like that still, i want one, or two, and a big shed!

I was taken on a surprise helicopter trip over San Francisco - for my anniversary today. A little scary. But all fun.

Wow, that's amazing that a helicopter flight originating in San Francisco would take in Giants Stadium, which is in New Jersey..although it sure looks like AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. Oh, I'm so snarky. Forgive me, Jane, nice photos, and I must say you live in a great town...it's been ages since I've been there. (Why is the team playing in New Jersey called the New York Giants, anyway?)

Thanks! My birthday was pretty recent acutally. But this flight yesterday was for my wedding anniversary.

Though if someone wishes me happy birthday, I will be thankful regardless! Cheers!

To the one wishing to be known as Jane;

http://www.whiskywhiskywhisky.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=819&p=37269#p37269

It looks like you had a great day, congratulations, but that concrete jungle can remain in the movies for me, I personally prefer more green and rural. But that's just me.

Alright! Alright! Call it whatever you want. I really dislike baseball anyways. I just thought it was a cool structure to put in my photo.

If there was hockey playing there or soccer or american football or roller derby or anything else really, I'd probably go more than once every 5 years.

Ah, just when I was starting to think you were okay.... ;)

I attended a university in Boston that had a large number of students from New Jersey and Long Island. They would often refer to Fenway Park as a stadium. Just one of a whole panoply of things we held against them....

What's weird, Nick? The bridge or me taking the photos of it.

Madison County, Iowa, is also where John Wayne was born (and where Clint Eastwood cried). I drove through it yesterday and stopped to take a couple of pictures, because the last time I passed through was on my heavily-loaded motorcycle and did not feel like riding the gravel roads.
