Thanks for these Bud. Unfortunately, I am too lazy to get my ass up to see the country but if I do I am too lazy to take pictures but if I do I am too lazy to put them online so... appreciate you doing all the work, Bud(dy)!

Even Canada can look decent sometimes. After 400 miles of nasty weather it was nice to experience a bit of sunlight. Badlands area of Saskatchewan-Alberta border.

"The land's so flat, you can't even stub your toe." --Fred Frith

They say the prairie is boring...but I have as much a hankering to spend time in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and eastern Alberta as I do to see the Rockies again. And when you stumble (Frith notwithstanding) upon the Big Muddy Badlands or the Cypress Hills, or even a gentle dip as you cross the Saskatchewan River, it's all the more dramatic.

I love that country. Most people drive through the plains without taking time to understand their beauty.

Nice Bud, where are they? I love grain/noise on b&w photography.

Mr Picky says your sea horizon is not horizontal enough on the first one.

Both taken in British Columbia on my way here. I had to postpone the purchase of Nikon D7000 for a few weeks, so on my way here I picked up a little inexpensive Olympus camera in Target. By far the worst piece of $#^&$ I ever bought in my life. What a waste of money. That's why I'm playing with software in order to make them look at least somewhat interesting.

Not horizontal?!? Listen mister I was freezing my butt while taking these pictures. Plus it's art and it's open to interpretation. ;)

It's the tide.

If Mr Picky (the real Mr Picky, harumph) started picking on uneven horizons, Mr Tattie Heid would be in serious trouble. I've just spent a fair amount of time rotating various photos in the 1-2° range. I have a grid on my viewfinder and still manage to screw up a fair number of them.

Funny thing, I too have a cheap-ass Olympus bought on a trip to Victoria, when I accidentally left my camera in Portland. It does in a pinch.

Lovely ferry ride, that, innit, Bud? As good as any in Scotland. Only one better I've been on was in the Faroe Islands, and I think it's been replaced by a tunnel. A crime.

We should inform Olympus, that their cameras are a bit wonky.

This is obviously a water-skiing location, therefore a slope is needed, non?

The ride is awesome. I chose the Horseshoe Bay - Nanaimo route to get here and broke all highway speed records just to arrive on time for 3.00 P.M. (daylight) departure.

I'm still contemplating which route to take on my way back, the one to Port Angeles or Anacortes.

Depends on where you're headed. The Anacortes ferry will be the more scenic, passing through the Gulf Islands, but if you go to Port Angeles, you can drive down the west side of Puget Sound and have nice views (weather permitting) of Seattle, and ferry there, too, if you want to--or head on south, if that's where you're going, and avoid Seattle traffic. You might also visit Port Townsend, which is supposed to be pretty (haven't been there myself).
