A few shots of the winter wonderland today. All on a compact camera so apologies for the quality. The snow is 20" deep, and deeper in parts.

One from the Mrs, hence the flash on the window - bless her. The back yard.

A busy street

On the 'high street'.

Just after i cleared a route to the back gate another 'blizzard' starts.

A barge sat on the Cheserfield Canal during a late stroll earlier.

 It amazes me how many people use flash so indiscriminately, and have no sense whatsoever of what it can and cannot do...such as, illuminate a playing field from the upper tier.

This is one interesting fellow. In more ways than one. I will write more about him later, but if anyone is crossing the Jordan River he should meet Casey. A veteran bootlegger of seventeen years, known in Victoria bootlegging circles as Cheetah, he is now an entrepreneur selling fish and chips and some other stuff to the surfing crowd and to guys like me.

Leaving tomorrow morning. Most likely to Anacortes. I haven't made my final decision yet, but I do have enough time to explore the Olympic NP later if I go through Anacortes first. Any suggestions in regard to Seattle area?

I think Anacortes is the better choice, at least for the ferry ride. Can you take a layover in Friday Harbor? As far as Seattle is concerned, suggestions for what? You can hardly go wrong for beer--there's lots of great pubs. (Everything else is unimportant as far as I'm concerned.) How long will you be there?

I plan to be in that area two or three days. Yeah, suggestions for beverages-related activities.

If you are still in Seattle Friday, and can find the Madrona Pub, you could meet my pal Ron.

I'd add pictures but I don't think my camera takes pictures smaller than the maximum allowed size of 256kb.

Tattie, any tips for an olympus point and shoot digital? My setting is already on the lowest resolution.

Well, my camera images are 4MB or more. I just resize and reduce the resolution to suit computer screens

lsd, have you no photo-editing software? Even something pretty basic should have a resizing option. I think the software that came with my dinky Olympus p&s is on my laptop...will look at it the next time I have it on.

You might try opening an account with one of the image-hosting services, like ImageShack or Flickr. They usually resize when you upload. Then instead of uploading them here, link them directly from the service. But even with that, it's better to resize before uploading, as larger images will take a long time to upload.

i've been using imageshack.us to host my pics for a couple of years now. there's a choice of resize options when you upload pics. sizes to suit different monitors or forums/websites. fairly quick and simple. there's also photobucket.com which does the same kind of thing.

I use Flickr and upload at full size ( around 4MB ). Flickr will then 'share' at a pixel count, so it won't matter. Simply upload and then 'share' by posting the HTML location of the photo - something like that.
