Always a treat.Is it a good one.
CC Teaninich 15 here although not a lot as I'm still not tasting/smelling things properly.

I was witholding further comment until I had a second dram of this whisky, which I am enjoying immensely as I post. This just may be the finest single malt I have tasted thus far. Wow!!! BIG...beefy malt to be sure. A bold, expressive exemplar of the form. I will need to spend a lot of time with this whisky to figure it all out.

It should be a lot of fun. :yummy:

Thats good news.Is it a sherried one? Sherried Mortlachs remind me of those all flavour sweets in Harry Potter. You could get vomit or rum n raisin. I was drinking Mortlach myself tonight, the sulphured one. Tasted fine tonightwith a blocked nose.

Apart from minis I've not had much luck with Mortlach though Iknow from some old GM versions it can be a big complex and genuinely special malt.

oof. this White Horse is not good. almost putrid nose, decent honey-malt taste, then putrid finish. I'll need a CS something after this...

Glen Grant Cellar Reserve 46%. A beautiful whisky. I seem to remember Jim Murray singing it's praises too.

Edit-In fact I'm struggling to recall tasting a better Speysider

I was drinking this the other day. Absolutely brilliant aperitif. Incredibly refreshing and almost un whisky like in some ways. It reminded me of Pinot Grigio(fresh n zesty) and Aussie chardonnay(buttery). Not necessarily for die hard sherry heads or peat heads but very much my kind of stuff.

CC Teaninich 95 15, really liking this, kind of reminds me of the old St Mag rare malts bottling that the MMs went nuts over.Dryish sherry notes, burnt grassiness, spicy and herbal,a little menthol.pretty complex at 46% with a pleasantly creamy texture.Quite an old fashioned highlander in many ways.Got to wonder what the unwatered malt was like.

It was matured in a sherry butt. It has some influence, but this is a very malt forward dram. Quite delicious. Even thinking about it makes me want to go back to the bottle and pour another.

This is a wheated bourbon distilled at the Stitzel-Weller distillery, which was closed in 1992. I have this and a couple of bottles of Pappy Van Winkle (one 20yr and one 23yr), also Stitzel-Weller bourbon, and that is it.

You can still find the Jefferson's Presidential 18yr for a reasonable price, and I highly recommend it. It's a fantastic dram. Perhaps not as good as Pappy, but it's very close.

GM Imperial 93 18, lots of wine gums and licorice allsorts. probably too sweet to be a really great whisky but it's nice and nostalgic for those who remember penny trays

Last of a sample of 1998 Glenrothes. Utterly avoidable. Even resists improvement with a few drops Laphroaig.

A small dram of The Whisky Trail Macallan 90 21. Interesting bottling, quite dark but not really sherry dominated by any means. It's more of a rich orangy barley from the malt that runs the show.
