OB 12yo 40% - Aberfeldy

Glass used: Tulip nosing glass

Tasted neat/reduced: Neat

Colour: Gold

Nose: A little sweaty at first, which soon dies away. A good layer of very soft sherry. Fudge, malt and a little mint. Perhaps some chocolaty notes and possibly even a touch smoky. Fairly vegetal and quite spicy. Some mild citrus fruit. Honey. A faint hint of eucalyptus and maybe some liquorice.

Palate: Softly sherried again and surprisingly oily. Honey and fudge. Some eucalyptus and malt. A little spiciness. Chocolate and gentle citrus fruit after a few seconds.

Finish: Honeyed and citric, with some eucalyptus, cream and a touch of mint developing later. Also a slight presence of oak.

A soothing, sherried dram. Very gentle and easy drinking. More please!

Colour: Gold and according to the bottle with E150

Nose: Malty, sherry, citrus, fresh cut grass

Taste: Vanilla, spices, slight bitterness

Finish: Sherry, vanilla and spices, fairly short and pleasant

Comment: Close to a blend, something you can drink without giving it too much attention. The profile reminds me of the old 40% Bunnahabhain minus the light peat.

My notes are pretty close to The tross except I didn't pick up any sherry notes. On the whole soft, malty ,citric, lightly spiced, not much oak, some mint and licorice.Pleasant but a little flat.
