And if you are really lucky they'll send you some Sulphured Whisky as well !

I was talking to someone about this and their conclusion was "great ,another place to narrow the number of bottles available from a cask down" . Not my opinion i hasten to add....

That's an odd response Gordon; the bottles that have been sent so far have been very well recieved, people are thrilled with their purchases, the quality has been very high. They have sold a lot of memberships and people are very pleased to have access to SMWS bottles finally, as am I.All is all it's been a very good experience/

As I understand the SMWS distribution system whole casks are kept for the UK and then other casks are split between the smaller markets which makes sense since only a few markets can sell a whole cask.

Not Necessarily Lawrence , Casks can be split anywhere , sometimes to several Branches/franchises , just scour the bottling lists to see where they land .

BTW I was being sarcastic about the first bit Lawrence .

OK, thanks Gordon. The Society has been very received here with the exception of some Ontarians adopting a victim posture because it's not come to Ontario yet.

I know we here in the US have been receiving some of the UK bottles, presumably those that haven't sold too well.

Were they 700 or 750cl bottles TH ?
From time to time at tastings and in the Vaults we had 750cl SMWSA bottles for sale that the SMWSA couldn't sell .

That's a good question...I haven't bought any, so I don't know. I'm thinking they have to be 750's, but that undermines my thought that they're leftover UK bottles. Maybe they actually split some casks. They list them as "US allocation: 87 bottles" or whatever.

Usually means a cask split between the US and somewhere else TH with the US's share going into 75cl bottles .

Anybody have any more updated info about bottle availability outside of Alberta?

Cheers

PS - I was pretty excited when I got to taste a few samples in January, so even though the member price is quite high the whisky was quite good.

I've been to a hockey game in Sarnia. That should be close enough, I would think.

Just over a year after arriving in Alberta ... on to BC ... they're moving in the wrong direction :!:
Maybe it won't take as long as a second NHL team in Toronto, maybe the smws.ca will arrive when the current NHL team gets back on the ice ...
