Bon Voyage to Ralfy

Bon Voyage to Ralfy

Postby Mark C » 01 Sep 2010, 10:40

Last night we gave Ralfy a good send-off on his last club night (for a while at least) before he heads to the Isle of Man to set up the Manx Whisky Society :iwbrnt:

Hopefully some photos will appear on the club blog soon but it was a great night with lots of moustaches (!) and the usual good drams and banter.

Bye Ralfy, and we'll see you in November!

Ralfy phoned me yesterday and said that he had packed his house into a van and was ready for a trip to Campbeltown. For a brief second I though he was moving here :-o :D

It was £15 more expensive. We don't like him that much.

Come to my neck of the woods where bourbon is cheaper. you should make a trip of it just to purchase the buffalo trace antique collection! it'll pay for your plane ticket.

... a great big thanks to Glasgow's Whisky Club for the unexpected, and rather generous farewell !

I first discovered the Whisky Club three years ago along with Andy Bell of Mctears and together we shared our first of many malt-moments with the fledgling Club, ... a JMR tasting at the Pot Still in Hope Street Glasgow.
Initially, the Media/journalist contingent of the Club obtained whisky review opportunities and got the Indusrty attention that every Whisky Club should strive for, but later on, with the addition of Mark Connolly the administrator of a WhiskyForum thingy !!! Andy Bell's new career as a Specialist Whisky Valuer, and my own dotty on-line commentry along with the rest of the Club's established 'do'ers' ..... the interest of the Distillers to meet and engage with us soared.
Laterally, the arrival of Glasgow's Whisky Festival has put the Club firmly on the Scottish whisky map and blind tastings, quizzes, and tasting tutorials make the Club a text-book for where Clubs should be.

Through interaction, both personal and on-line we all talk, taste, and socialise all things 'Whisky' and in doing so we remind ALL Distilleries to do the best they can with quality, because we will quickly notice if they don't !!

... then discuss it with the World.

Thanks Everyone, the show goes on ! ;)
