Where's the Cardhu?

Where's the Cardhu?

Postby Nabil » 13 Apr 2011, 13:41

I checked last month and there were some in stock. I asked yesterday and was told that there is no stock, it is not in the catalogue, and it has been delisted. A shame because I was going to buy one in NY, then return for a gift card, just to protest the absurd price!

Now Lawrence tells me that it has shown up in BC. Coincidence? Zunak, any inside info? Did they sell their inventory to BC rather than back down on price?

My theory is that backing down on such an absurdly high price would've called into question ALL of their other pricing.

Ideas?

I remember your Cardhu bubble thread on WMF. Then they were selling them for like $100 off.

It's also available in California so it's not ex-LCBO stock, they've returned it to the market place.

This is one that I have always wanted to try but have avoided because of the price in Ontario. Would love to get my hands on a bottle when I am traveling. Or maybe split one with someone from the MLL if the LCBO does get some in stock?

It's in Sainsbury's a third off this week. @ £22.51. Get down there guys.

Also if you spend £60 in store you get a voucher for Petrol at 10p off per litre which brings it down to £1.21 per litre.

Are we talking about Cardhu 12 yo? The same Cardhu that is only $45 at Binny's in Chicago... :-o   With such a completely ridiculous price, it might be worth a day trip to Chicago from Southern Ontario!!!

Is the 3.67 Zunak ratio a new record? ...Sorry for the the extra use of 'smilies', I hope you all find it understandable.

No need to travel that far it's available in Niagara Falls NY for $43 and I'm not sure it's worth that much. I had 2 drank 1 and am not sure if I'll ever open the other.

I agree with you there. Never was much of a fan.

You should return that 2nd bottle. $165 will buy you a bottle of Doublewood, a Talisker, and a Maker's Mark (if it's still on sale). Or your choice of two Bowmores. Or, you could get a bottle of Lagavulin and a bottle of Rittenhouse Rye, plus have enough left over for a mickey of Crown Royal and 2L of Ginger Ale for when the in-laws come over.

The possibilities and combinations are endless, really.

If the LCBO isn't charging Diageo for this exposure they are fools.
