Teerenpeli 8yo (Finland) 43%

This is a single malt whisky. Bottled at 43% in a 500ml bottle. As far as i know this is their 1st 8yo having previously bottled a 5yo. Distilled at Teerenpeli Distillery, Lahti, Finland.

N: Predominantly barley and malt with some coffee. Lightly floral (see below). A sweet citrus with stewed fruit. Honey.

T: More honey, some baby-sick in with some sourness (possibly the fingerprint of the small still) but neither are a problem, instead lending themselves to the whisky. Just the odd moment (on the nose) where the sourness is more obvious, only to slip behind a light peatiness. I generally like floral notes but these occasionally slip into the 'lavender perfume' bracket, it's ok though - just.

F: Good and longish with some lively peppery spice. Coffee again.

Overall this is fine stuff and a joy to drink. To be grouped with Mackmyra i think, and not with the majority of continental Europe with their dubious whiskies. A well made whisky and i suspect the minor flaws are associated with the stills being so small, i will add that those flaws didn't bother me at all and i quite enjoyed this. Pricey but worth the experience.
I've spent a lot of money on whisky and women, the rest i squandered
