Older Glenfarclas, more info please

Postby Bud Light » 19 Dec 2009, 00:39

How about having a thread where the forum members can ask more information about a specific bottle they just encountered but know little about? It may turn out to be a decent and useful quasi-database. Allow me to begin with this old-design Glenfarclas 10 I found in a small-town liquor store. Most search engines show its presence in Europe, particularly German speaking countries and Whiskybase lists it only as old label. Can anyone provide more info such as years of production, areas of distribution (e.g., Europe only), quantities, and so forth?

Hi Bud,
I was thinking this may have been an older one, but it seems that it could be from 2001 as a 'Christmas push' from Glenfarclas.

After a bit of thorough goooogling, I found this;

Although not so old, I would still it's rather collectible and would only increase in value as it looks like it was only available over a limited time period.

Thank you, sir. It has to be the one of the prettiest tubes that I have seen in a long time; tucked in a corner on the spirits shelf in a rural liquor store.

A small local store has Glenfarclas 12yr in both the (older?) long bottle and the (newer) shorter, wider bottles (like Balvenie bottles). Is there a significant difference in the content? I assume not, but I'm new to whisky in the past year or so and thought I'd ask. Thanks
