It takes 4-5 days Netherlands-Denmark. Mongo's parcel had a lot higher miles per hour than mine I think, without taking out my atlas! :D

Hi mongo,

then don´t go to: http://www.scoma.de.

They state, they are shipping worldwide. On the german "shipping cost" page at least Canada (Kanada) is listed. Interesting they didn´t list Canada on the english page. So I think you´ll have to ask whether they ship to the US or not.
By the way, their homepage isn´t completely translated (yet?).

I don't believe Scoma ships to the USA. At least not as recently as four months ago.

i am pleased to report that my second package from the netherlands (whiskybase) arrived in half the time as the first one: six days. coincidentally, it also included half as many bottles.

I am worried because I have an order from TWE being held by U.S. Customs. It arrived at 8:12AM yesterday morning. The latest tracking status is "inbound into Customs."

had that happen once. it went out of customs very quickly (though the update wasn't made as quickly) and was fine.

I am fairly certain the package is being held/delayed by customs. Usually orders from TWE are delivered to me the day after they arrive in NY. Nothing came today, so I will have to wait until Monday to see if there is any movement.

At which point it will undoubtedly be very seriously molested.

I ordered from whiskybase at the beginning of September, Glenfarclas Family Cask 1982 Release V and Caol Ila 1982 Archives Fourth Release. It took 17 days from order to delivery, but I was out of town for a week on vacation, so that kept me pretty calm. My second order is on the way now, and appears to be about 6 days ahead of the first order.

The first package was extremely well packed and everything arrived safely.

still waiting. the package has apparently been sitting in chicago for a week. on usps.com the cheerful tracking update from last night reads "missent".

Oooh, that doesn't sound very good at all.

My 2nd order arrived today. 10 days total, down from 17 the first time. Proud Papa of Glenfarclas and Highland Park 25 Year bottles, as well as a 'farclas 15, which I've heard many say is their favorite.

They also throw in sample bottles, 20ml if I had to guess, for their Archive releases. I got Strathmill 1974 with the first order (2 bottles) and a Bunnahabhain 1990 and Glen Scotia 1992 with this order (3 bottles). It's a nice gesture, and a smart bit of advertising.

finally arrived today. 13 days, courtesy the usps who sent it to duluth, mn for a few days. this is the longest any of my shipments have taken. it should be noted that twe's stuff come via ems speed post which is both faster and has better tracking at the u.s end. whiskybase's stuff comes via international priority mail which is a lower tier of service, and also cheaper.

whiskybase always include samples, and not only for their archives series. in fact, of the three that came with this package only one was an archives bottling. and their samples are very generous too. all the samples i received with this package, for example, are >20yo bottlings. i don't think it's only or largely for cynical marketing/promotion reasons. i think it's mostly because menno and cj are whisky enthusiasts first.

A lot of times it's not the company, but the shipping companies and customs that create the issues.

in fact, that's almost always the case. but for those of us in the u.s it is useful to know what the retailers mark on their shipping boxes/customs declarations etc. and what the success rates of packages originating with them are.

twe, thankfully, go by "speciality drinks" on their box and paperwork. i always worry about retailers whose names include whisky in them, but the whiskybase box is the most discreet i've seen.
