Ian Macleod stops bottling CC DB?

Postby kallaskander » 19 Mar 2012, 13:20

Hi there,

I am in search of a rumour not about starting one.

I read in a whisky forum there is a rumour Ian Macleod Distillers will stop bottling whiskies

of their Dun Bheagan and/or Chieftain's Choice series during next year because of problems

with procuring adequate casks.

Has somebody informations on that?

Greetings

My local supplier always have a very decent share of IM-bottlings. Right now he is in Scotland, but when he's back I'll ask him if he knows more. This will be in the beginning of april.

for the very, very little it's worth, ed kohl of impex--the u.s importer for ian mcleod--did a series of tastings from the chieftain's lineup in the minneapolis area late last year, and said he'd be back in february to debut the next set of releases in the line; but, as far as i know, he has not actually returned. there are probably far more plausible explanations for this than "the chieftain's series is winding up" so please treat this with the contempt it deserves.

is that by the chieftain's guy though? if it's the store that also has outlets in eagan, plymouth etc. i was told by the eagan manager that someone else was conducting this round of tastings and that it was not focused on chieftain's products.

and if i'm not mistaken he said it was a guy from a company called vinocopia, who turn out to be the distributor for impex's whiskies, but also some others (and lots of other spirits). that explains why the lineup for saturday's tasting in eagan includes smokehead, arran, and a bunch of burn stewart stuff as well.

Yeah, I have no facts concerning the tasting! They threw a flyer in my bag a couple weeks ago.
