What chance of winning the 'hotel' lottery?

Postby Malt-Teaser » 28 Aug 2011, 19:12

I'm trying to book a trip for next year and, as expected, the local hotels, B&Bs and purveyors of various types of accommodation are already pretty full. In fact Mrs Malty, who will be accompanying me, just spoke to one hotel who are accepting no actual reservations. Instead they are asking people send an e-mail with their details (and maybe also why they wish to stay there) and they will be entered into a lotttery to see who wins the chance to rent a room for that time.

It may be 2km away, but we found somewhere else which is rather cosy-looking :D

The International Minor Metals Conference in Köln, 23-25 April 2012?

Once again the conference will focus on the range of minor metals including cobalt, rhenium, antimony, gallium, indium, tungsten, vanadium, bismuth, molybdenum, chromium and rare earths.

I can hardly wait for your tasting notes.

Mr. TH,
I can possibly write them in advance if you like:

Glass. Nowhere in site, more like pewter mug
Colour: Steel blue with hints of coppery brass
Nose: Smoky steelworks with metallic hints of blacksmith's anvil
Palate: Crisp, cool and steely
Finish: Hammered
Value for money: It's a steel

Hi Steffen,
after googling the town name I found a hotel which Mrs. Malty called and reserved, temporarily. She will call back and confirm tomorrow.
Anyway, after that call I looked again and saw the google map which made it appear quite far away, so I was initially disappointed until I looked further and realised it was just 2km away, so I have asked her to confirm it.

In ringing other (nearer) hotels she came across the 'lottery' which also happens to be one of the more expensive hotels. Anyway, we'll at least be there, me at the whisky event whilst she enjoys looking at old relics in the 'old town'

Malty, I couldn't be doing with the lottery thingy either so have got myself a little hotel 1.6 km walk north of the centre. That will do me fine. I am very much looking forward to it.

Hey Roger,
so I guess we'll finally get to meet at Limburg 2012 then :D

Hopefully Mrs. Malty confirmed our booking today, I must remember to ask her, which means we'll have a nice large double room at the Alt Staffel.

I just asked her, yes we are confirmed :D
Limburg here we come!
