The series P No. 2 is great. I'm usually not a fan of the Piramide vitola, but this one is amazing.

you really should try the Bolivar Belicoso Fino and the Montecristo No 2. They might change your mind about the torpedo.

I've never tried the Bolivar, so I'll add it to my list. I still have half a box of Montecristo No. 2 and I find them a bit uneven: the first third will be weak and the final will be mind blowing. But I guess many Monte's suffer from inconsistency, or at least that's all I've experienced with the No. 2, No. 4, the Edmundos, etc.. The only impeccable Monte for me was the Sublimes LE 2008. Perfection.

It is true about the Montes. They are not as good as they were 10 years ago. If you are a robusto smoker and have not yet tried anything from Bolivar then you might want to try the Royal Corona as well as it is always a great smoke and one of my favourites

A Montecritso (NC) with Jameson 12. I don't think this whisky pairs particularly well with cigars and this cigar wasn't particularly good...

Coronado by La Flor Double Corona and some Glenfarclas 17 to balance it out. A throughly rich and decadent experience. :yummy:

Backtracking to Saturday afternoon... A July 2010 Bolivar Coronas Junior... Typically semi-sweet toasted tobacco overture followed by a rainbow of peppery spices. Love this littl'un when it's 'on'. Paired nicely with some C. Ferrand 1995 Plantation Reserve Rum from Barbados (bottled 2008).

There are "mirror" brands made under the Cuban Marcas for the US market initially by ex-Cuban concerns now bought up by multinationals. Most mirror brands are not well thought of with a few exceptions like San Cristobal. My NC Montecristo was pretty pedestrian, and has nothing in common with the "real" Montecristos except the band.

What kind of coffee did you have with it? I ask as the Don Carlos is a Cameroon wrapper and that is quite delicate and can easily be over powered.

Frank Correnti Robusto. Tasted it again when I drank my coffee this morning.

A 2 dimensional ''gar, worth the 10 bucks for cuban tobacco. The base was poorly constructed though.

House blend coffee from a small coffee place called the Green Beanery.

Another Don Carlos this morning and I agree the wrapper is probably a Camaroon wrapper...

I'm 99% sure that the Don Carlos line by AF is Cameroon wrapper. A few years ago I went on a Cameroon wrapper kick and I know I had a box of the #3's

Just had a LFD Camaroon Cabinet No.4 with some Wiser's Legacy. The spicy notes of the whisky went very well with the caramel flavour of the cigar...

Partagas Serie E No.2 Very good flavour, smell and next day flavour. Burns fast though.

Rocky Patel Fusion with coffee. I do like the maduro version of this but this one...I dunno. Barnyard flavours dominate. Will try again - got a bunch for cheap so I can't complain. Maybe change pairings next time.
