Jura Prophecy - Has anyone had it/Any thoughts on it?

Postby whisk(e)y novice » 16 Dec 2011, 16:50

I was in a supermarket in Manchester a few days and noticed among the whiskies on the shelves Jura Prophecy. I would have liked to picked one up but at £51.75 a bottle decided against it as I had not long bought a Chivas Regal, a Buffalo Trace, a Black Grouse and 5 bottles of Jim Beam Red Stag. The tasting notes on it got me drooling slightly. I will probably pick a bottle of it up next time I am on a visit to my home town. Has anyone tried Prophecy and if so what are your thoughts?

I've had this on several occasions and think it's not a great whisky, but still very drinkable. That is, however, what I think about Jura in general, so I might be biased. It is definitely not "profoundly peated, though. That may be what I find irritating - I expect a peated dram and get something different. But one thing is for sure, I'd never turn it down if offered one ;)

Yes, it's a pretty good dram and certainly worth buying.

The Boutique Barrel bottlings are even better.

Spend your £51.75 on a nice single cask of something else...
