This sample was very generously given to me by a whisky shop owner.
Cask type: refill sherry (ex Ardbeg)
Colour: Yellow gold, quite light for a 40 year old.
Nose: Honey, pear drops vanilla. Tropical fruits- banana and pineapple, and a little spice
Palate: Enormously chewy, quite oily and robust.
Finish: Honey and quite a bit of vanilla now. Very long.
This is a very nice Balblair but tastes a bit younger than it is (not that thats a bad thing!). Needs time to open up though. I was expecting the nose to give a little more but mouthfeel is pure bliss.
