Gentlemen, I say merci.
It's not always easy to remain motivated after quite a few years but positive comments such as yours work just like an Old Clynelish ;-).

You may have slaughtered some of my recent whiskies and have a different view to me on the direction of the industry but I always enjoy dropping in and seeing what you're up to and feel that the whisky blog world (and Whisky World) would be a much poorer place without you.

Actually, yours is one of the few blogs that I still dip into - others have become merely cut 'n' paste blogs (and I am not talking about Whisky Intelligence which is the Ronseal of all whisky websites) - or worse, 'I was recently invited to a VIP tasting with [insert company] and now their whisky is the best in the world and their prices are completely reasonable' etc etc

So keep up the great work  , just don't expect a Christmas card

Thanks MacDeffe and Peat Smoke!
@David, many thanks as well! In the beginning of the madness, I used to feel a little guilty when I was publishing a bad comment on one whisky, until I met with one very large indie bottler at a festival. I had feared he would just knock me down using a double magnum and so I started to apologise but much to my surprise, he interrupted me with these wise words: "Please always write what you think! If you don't say it when you do not like one very whisky, people won't believe you anymore when you say that you enjoyed another one."
I'm writing this with a wee glass of your Mannochmore 1992 in front of me, brilliant whisky in my view! ;-)

I heartily agree. There is not an independent bottler in the world that has got it right for every drinker every time - it isn't possible and it also isn't our job (one man's perfume is another man's poison etc). It is also the beauty of bloggers - fun when we agree, topical when we don't.

Of course it is human nature to enjoy praise though, so when you do find a good one, make sure you tell everybody!! ;)

Obwohl, meine Muttersprache eigentlich Schweizerdeutsch wäre, aber ich möchte Dich nicht überfordern, mein Freund... and this thread is going way off topic ;D

Peat, you need to keep practising your English ( as do i ), lets stick to that. This whisky forum is a lesson in the art of going off topic.

Agreed Lawrence, and well done Serge on a) producing such a comprehensive and authoritative site (even though I don't always agree either) and b) keeping it growing for so long.

Many more years of it, I'm sure :D

Well done and congratulations!
