Inner Circle Green Dot Cask Strength Rum

Postby Johnny Murgatroyd » 28 Apr 2011, 02:49

Hi all

I just got a bottle of the highly touted Green Dot Rum. When I poured out a tot, I was absolutely horrified.

Nothing but model-glue and nail polish remover. And very very strong at that.
Now, this rum has such a high reputation that I am genuinely puzzled at it. How can such a dreadful batch even exist??

Anyone have a comment on Inner Circle or what I should do to save it? Should I return it?

I have never consider Inner Circle to have a 'good reputation' so i'm not suprised. I have never had the green dot though. Only the standard to which I thought the reputation was about right - nothing great, pretty poor!

Guess what - after four days' aggressive decanting, the flavour profile of this thing has definitely improved. Still a bunch of acetone, but it no longer smells or tastes defective anyway

Australian rum!!! Come on JM you should have known better especially if you've tried Bundy rum(Old Spice in a liquor bottle).
Inner Circle(formally The Beenleigh Rum distillery before production stopped through to lack of interest then bought by another concern to restart production under the Inner Circle brand) is about 3 clicks as the crow flies from my house, and I've never entertained a single desire to go there and try their product.

Imagine the relevation it was when I introduced my Aussie relo's to top end Carribean rum.......They saw see the heavens open and the angels singing!!

Yes, and now I have a bunch of near-undrinkable high strength licker in my chest. Sometimes I'll imbibe some, but only in a shot glass. And even then...it burns!! :-o
