OB 15yo 40% (old style bottle) - Glencadam

This is the 15yo that was bottled in 2005. The distillery has since revamped its core range by bumping the ABV up to 46% and changing the packaging.

Nose: Sherried notes, camphor (honey & eucalyptus Lockets) and some fruit (dark fruit, citrus). Quite creamy. Spices. Hints of dark chocolate and a little liquorice and treacle.

Palate: Some citrus fruit. Hints of oak, chocolate, treacle and spice. Astringent and a little flat.

Finish: Light fruit and touches of menthol. A little dusty and bitter. Quite short.

This had quite a bitter, dusty feel to it from start to finish, which is such a shame as without that this could’ve been pretty good. As it is I didn’t particularly enjoy it, though the nose showed some promise.
