Scapa 14 - I did not think much of it when I first tasted this whisky at an event but I am sitting here now really enjoying it.

A lovely light coloured, but quite viscous whisky; mouth-coating with a powerful nose of minty apple drops which translates to the palate with a secondary blast of peppery peatiness and a hint of salt. A reasonably long, dry finish.
:)
I feel no pain dear mother now
But oh, I am so dry!
O take me to the distillery
And leave me there to die.

Glengoyne 12yr Cask Strength 57.2%. Sample courtesy of Mongo.

This is really a nice dram. Nicely sherried and very peppery on the palate. I will probably buy a bottle of this.

That's why I think festivals and other small sample tastings are of limited value when deciding on the worth of a whisky. Only prolonged and detailed analysis can really lead to a sensible decision.

There's nothing like a good session of prolonged and detailed analysis :D

Finished off a bottle of Glenrothes "Select Reserve." (There was only a little left.)

Thought I detected a little sulphur - Could this be oxidisation?- It has been close to empty for a while.

A Glenfiddich 15 "Solera" - growing on me with every dram this whisky is.

Then had a Laphroaig "Original Cask" with just a touch of water to finish off a pleasant evening.

OOPS! Wrong thread - This should have been in what I drank last night! :?
