The 5yo Ledaig from Berry Bros. & Rudd that came out a couple of years ago that people at the time were raving about. The number of times I stopped myself from hitting the buy button - because I was out of work and couldn't really justify the cost - was innumerable.

Yep, I've got a bottle—a thoughtful gift from a friend for helping her settle in to Kingston. You'll definitely notice the youth on it—it's only a 7 year-old, I think—but if you like the more bracing side of Longrow, you'll likely enjoy this. You weren't so crazy about another wine-finished Springbank, though, so I can't be certain you'll fall for this one.

Thanks D. I have been on the fence on this one for quite some time. I did like the Claret expression that you eluded to, I just prefered the original CS to it. I am of the impression that since the Gaja is Longrow rather than Springbank that the extra smokiness might give it more dimension than the Claret Wood had???, or possibly the youth of the Longrow might diminish the depth of flavours?? Not sure .... any thoughts along those lines?

I think there is reasonable complexity to this one. The issue—for some, not for all—is simply that it's got the energy of a youngster. The sort that you wouldn't leave home alone without a sitter. I think it's quite good stuff, but I also think your mileage may vary (as people are fond of saying these days).

Thanks again dbk. I think I'll pass on the Longrow Gaja. The logistics of getting the one I'm after are too complicated and will add considerable cost to the bottle so I don't think it's gonna happen. It has always intrigued me though and I'm never shy of young whisky's that go down kicking and screaming as long as they bring something unique to the table. From what I've heard I'm sure this one does.

Sitting here with a bottle each of Amrut Peated and Fusion. Since purchasing, have tasted them both in bars and now doubt I'll ever open them. Fusion I can still return for credit, but Peated was never re-listed. Anyone here feel they "missed out" on that one?

I'll also probably never open my Kilchoman Summer 10, but I'm probably not the only one here with that problem.

I think the Longrow Gaja Barrolo is better than quite good. If you get a chance to buy it I would recommend it.

Hahaha I got those Amruts closed too and tried them. They aren't bad whiskies, I guess I just jumped on the Amrut hype when they came. I have a kilchoman open and have 4 more in the bunker.
