I know, but I thought the difference was on the order of $10 or so... not exactly breaking the bank on affordability. I've always found it odd that the QC is cheaper here, despite being more expensive than the 10 in the native UK.

"Hobson's Choice" would be a cool name for a whisky. Of course, Hobson's choice is no choice at all. I suppose that could apply in many parts of Canada.

This is readily available for you? I live in New England and this stuff is as tough as nails to get here.

"Ready available" is very dependant on where you live and what is your shopping pattern

I buy almost all my whisky online or on my holiday travels, so quite a lot is ready available for me, its no further away than 2min on my PC

You're correct of course. However it only applies to the parts of Canada where the whisky bottle is closest to the stable door.

Your stables have doors?

Taking this to mean really affordable. How about Arran 14(fresh and well balanced) Laphroaig QC or ardbeg 10(best value peated) and stearing clear of the more obvious sherried malts how about a sherried CC from the highlands like Teaninich 95 15. 3 great varies bottles for less than £100

Sorry, don't mean to pick on you...you are only following the poor example of the many native English speakers who slept through grade school. In fact, the Belgians, Swiss, Swedes, Norwegians, Danes, and many others who post here generally show a better command of English than some of the Brits and Yanks.

I'm glad that us Canadian's weren't included in your list.

Funny, I've been thinking since I posted that I'd left out Canuckistan...poor babies, the Brits think you're Americans, and the Americans don't know you exist. Anyway, consider yourself included.

Seems a little harsh to turn a grammatical spoof political don't you think? For someone who doesn't know we exist, you sure have a lot of posts in the maple leaf lounge...

I'm not sure where I went "political"...no offense intended. I've had a keen interest in Canadian affairs since attending Expo 67 as a lad, and I'm sure I have a better understanding of Canadian issues than most Americans. Maybe I shouldn't have said "poor babies"--that sounds unsympathetic, which I didn't intend.

Next time I'm in town (whenever that might be), the first pint at the Manx is on me, marriedmalt.

I dare say, based on your past posts and travels through Canada, you may have a better understanding of Canadian issues than many Canadians. ;)

I've never actually been in the Manx, I've driven by many times but that is all. Offer accepted. :P

Favourite Whiskies: At this very moment - Glendronach 12 - still enjoying old favourites Glenlivet "Nadurra" and Talisker 57N. Absolutely loving Old Pulteney 17 and missing the recently emptied Ardbeg Uigeadail. Highland Park "Leif Eriksson" is very good.

Glenmorangie Original
Tomatin 12
Talisker distillers edition

Old Weller Antique
Ardbeg Uigealdail
Highland Park 12

And for mixing: 50/50 Smokehead and Mount Gay Extra Old Rum. The Smokehead is lame, but when mixed with the excellent rum, the combination is sublime.
