GM Glen Mhor 8 57%,barley rich and smoky, I'm coming round to the idea that Glen Mhor was the better of the three Inverness distilleries.

Raizul Premium Anejo Tequila

This is the first taste of tequila I have had in at least 20 years. This is very nice. Sweet agave with some vanilla and a light oakiness on the nose. The palate closely follows the nose. The finish is soft and slightly peppery. It's a delightful drink and one I am sure to be returnining to frequently over the summer months.

Del Maguey Mezcal Chichicapa

Image

Oh my!! There's a lot going on here. I get some light smoke on the nose (not peat smoke...more like the smoke from a campfire), along with wood resin. The aroma is quite medicinal. It's very smoky on the palate, however. Starts out lightly fruity and sweet, and then turns dry and peppery quickly...with a touch of brine on a long tingly finish. There are loads of complexity in this mezcal. Ralfy was right on the money in his review and I have him to thank for this purchase. If you like peaty whisky then chances are excellent that you will appreciate this mezcal. In some not surprising ways this is nothing at all like an Islay whisky and in others it surprisingly reminds me of an Ardbeg 10yr. The nose improves over time. I didn't know what to make of it when I got the first wiff, but after a few minutes of nosing the Chichicapa really started to open up. It is bottled at 47.8% and I enjoyed it neat. This is probably the best $70 I spent this month, and I fully intend to grab another bottle to stash away. Highly recommended if you can get it. Brilliant stuff.

Aberlour A'bundah, Batch 38

Just a few drams left in this bottle; it was great while it lasted.

Springbank 12 yo Claret Wood 54.4%

I don't get that much wine from the nose and taste. But a very busy and nice dram, no doubt.

Which batch? I've only tried batch 1 and it was perhaps my favourite whisky to date.

Whisky Trail macallan 1990 21. Interesting barley rich macallan without a lot of heavy cask influence inspite of the 21 years
