Would be particularly interested in your views on the Aberfeldy when you get round to opening it. I like the 12 yr old as an easy drinking standard dram but am very unimpressed with the 21 yr old which I've currently got open. Suspect the extra strength might make for a much better dram.

I am at the point where I will not buy any whisky bottled at less than 43%. I have ended up with too many thin and watery drams at 40% and it just isn't worth it. I have a strong preference for cask strength bottlings, but 46% ABV is usually very good too, and that is where I typlically draw the line. When it gets down to 43% I have to think about it, and at strengths less than that I simply pass them by.

I have not had an Aberfeldy yet because the OB is bottled at an anemic 40% and it took a long while for me to find one at cask strength. I'm sure I'll have some comments on the GM bottling once I have some time with it.

I have a CC 89 19 at 46% which I rate very highly but it doesnt seem to be available now. I am curious about the 21. You do get mixed reports. Could trade a sample if you like.

Just picked up Dalwhinnie 73 29, £148 seems reasonable as there are so few alternative expressions to the 15 on the market and the 29 seems universally rated.

Three weeks ago my dad and his wife picked up a Talisker 18 (only $60!!) and Clear Creek McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt while on their way through Kentucky. I'll be picking up those bottles (and hopefully cracking them open as a thank you for services rendered) in about 10 days time.

This past week, while personally difficult with the passing of my grandmother in Illinois, presented a small silver lining in the form of a trip to Binny's, where I picked up:

- Parker's Heritage Collection 5th edition (finished in cognac casks...got the only bottle that existed between the two stores that I visited!)
- Rowan's Creek Bourbon (not available in Michigan or Ontario)
- Yamazaki 18...read lots of good reviews and solid feedback...likely the best Japanese bottle that I will have a reasonable opportunity to acquire.
The wishlist is always growing...

Compass Box Oak Cross and Nikka WTFB.

Opened both for daily/go-to drams. Pleasantly surprised by the Oak Cross which I had never had before, nice and easy drinking. Glad to find WFTB just as good as it was last time I had it.
