IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We are providing coaches to and from Edinburgh Castle as there is no vehicle access and the walk to the Jacobite Room is steep. We ask you to meet in xxx Bar at 5.30pm for a welcome drink and await coaches.

You are responsible for your own transport to and from the xxx Bar. Please don't drink and drive - arrange for alternative transport after the event.

WELCOME DRINK/ MEET LOCATION:

The Royal Mile
Edinburgh

MEET/TIME:
5.30pm meet in the xxx Bar (to await coaches)
6.15pm coaches arrive to take you to the Castle
6.30pm tasting, followed by dinner
The evening will finish at 10.30pm (coaches will take you back to xxx)

MENU:
FIRST COURSE: (please choose one of the following):
Red onion tart tatin, glazed goats cheese and roast cherry vine tomatoes (v)
Glazed crab tartlet with thinly sliced smoked salmon, capers and créme fraîche
Roast Portobello mushrooms, garlic and honey crumb with beetroot salad

MAIN COURSE: (please choose one of the following):
Oven baked halibut supreme wrapped in streaky bacon with pomme purée, spinach
and wild mushrooms
Potato gnocchi with roast butternut squash, pumpkin and toasted pine nuts (v)

DESSERT: (please choose one of the following):
Dark chocolate fondant pudding with orange Anglaise
Raspberry cream brûlée with peach compote shot and vanilla shortbread
Cheeseboard

I too, have won a place at this Glenfiddich tasting/dinner. This is the 2nd prize I've won in a couple of months, after winning the Balblair 1989 just before Xmas - I must be on a roll!

Indeed, I came into work this morning and the e-mail winning invitation was in my 'junk' folder! Whisky spam indeed - we partner up with Glenfiddich with much promotion work (ahem! ).

Initially, I thought there must have been some mistake when NB won and I didn't - my first reaction was 'they must let any old riff-raff in these days'.

Anyway, I'll try hard to shake off some of my Shrek-habits by then so I can sit at Nick's table, looks a bit posh
