Looks great Les!

I have to confess to receiving a bottle of this last week. I tasted it for the first time on Monday, and although impressed I wasn't blown away. Still tasting a little feinty to me. Smacks of peat, but again not as much as I expected. Definetely worth tasting though. I'm looking forward to trying it again at the weekend when I have more time. Perhaps it will open up more with a bit of air.

I can't see the picture because we have pictured blocked at work - but my most recent purchases were Bunnahabhain Darach Ùr (probably destined to remain closed for a while) and Glenrothes 1985.

Nick it's Octomore 1 pictured on our dining table. You just have to imagine it.

That Bunny is exclusive to duty free. Well done.

I also have the new Bunnahabhain Darach Ùr sitting beside me at work right now. A colleague was passing thro EDI airport yesterday and I thought IWBRNT ask him to get me one. I have another Bunna currently open (G&M Macphails Collection 1991) so this one will have to wait.

(At the same time I thought I'd mention that this is a post I feel far more comfortable making here than over on the dark side, where some anonymous or named lurker/con artist would likely hoover a few up and punt on ebay before you have time to open it)

No pictures yet but my most recent purchase is SMWS The Manager's Trio:

"121.26 (Isle of Arran) Absolutely stunning
Anyone who knows me knows that this is from one of my favourite distilleries, but even Iwas surprised howgood this is. Smooth and velvety, it's matured in a stunning sherry cask.

33.73 (Ardbeg) An entire meal - and more!
I loved this absolutely massive Islay whisky. Matured in a sherry cask, it has a mouthwatering mix of sweet
and savoury notes with an exceptionally rich smoke.

27.70 (Springbank) Banoffee pie and sweet apples
This complements the other two perfectly. An oily maritime dram with some sweetness and a bit of smoky kick."

All in the new livery...

Also the Balvenie Sinature at £21.74 I just had to. I love the bottle shape on this one.

Les, is that a wee tasting notes/book thing with the new Ardbeg Ten? I didn't get one of them with mine :?

Anyway, new purchases for me are:

1) Bruichladdich Full Strength 1989 16yo Sherry Cask (exclusive to Oddbins) - I tried this one recently in an Oddbins branch and was impressed, plus it's good value compared to the current (younger/peatier) releases from them. Prior to this I've only bought a Rocks from Morrisons (plus a couple of 3x20cl 12/15/17 packs on sale) but I doubt if I'll ever buy another Bruichladdich due to my current feeling of now being priced out of their target market.

2) Magilligan - a young (6/7yo and unpeated) Irish malt from Cooley bottled for Ian Macleod, which states 'pure pot still' on the label but is in fact a single malt.

Leither it is. I'd suggest checking the boxes on your next purchase to make sure you get one. :)

That Laddie is lovely, very citrusy.

I didn't think you would like that Paul. I thought there was a bit of sulphur on it.

My most recent was Daluaine F&F from RMW:

along with some A'bunadh #25 and Glenlivet Nadurra from Waitrose

Oh yeah and I have a couple of bottles of the Octomore 1 from the kindest of donors and I agree with Martin on what its like.

Can't help but feel that I have forgotten something. :?

Nice looking bottle Les! I too received one of these the other day, haven't opened it yet, but I'll be getting around to it soon enough.

Not a purchase but had to mention. Got the Restaurant Manager on the tasting tour at Talisker a week past Monday and he brought back a bottle of 10yo. Always nice to replenish the stocks and not have to fork out the cash.

BTW Great site Mark. Big props!!

The Springbank is already sold out, so this trio is no longer available.
That didn't take long then...

I bought a bottle of HP12. I've tasted whiskies whose names I can't even remember but I've never actually tasted this. (Comes of associating with people who discovered whisky long before discovering me, I suppose!)

I was looking for something that seemed quite middle of the road and generally liked. And it's quite yummy. But I suspect everyone alreay knew that.

Things like Glenburgie and Glen Mhor and Teaninich...

...but glad you like the HP. Loganair had a deal with HP to stock it on their flights out of Edinburgh and Glasgow for a month - and they actually had it on about half the flights I went on that month. Gosh, it made a pleasant change from the usual Johnnie Walker Red.

I have to say Calliope that it is one of my favourite weekday tipples unchallenging but really very good.

I bought another Nadurra from Waitrose today. That's the 3rd I've bought for someone else. Time I got another one for myself I think.

Also, I got a 1960-2006 G&M Glen Grant from RMW and a shiny new Campbelltown Loch 30yo from Cadenhead.
