Thats a great clip from a great film with an excellent score. I grew up listening to Mr Knopfler.

My favorite flick of all time, and in a sense the reason I am here talking to you all. The very interesting film Bud posted (sorry about the hijacking!) reminded me of the Knox Oil & Gas promotional film at the beginning of Local Hero, and it's that that I wanted to post, but I couldn't find it. I did, however, find this great making-of.

I assume it gave you a love of scotland. If you like movies with a strong British feel you could check out Shane Meadows' films, they're all quality.

Another good find Bud. Keep 'em coming!

That one, along with "Once Upon A Time in the Midlands" and "A Room For Romeo Brass" are my fave 3.

No problemo! It must have been twenty years since I watched that rather nice movie. It was nice to be reminded about it.

Here is more news about oil drilling in North Dakota:

NEW TOWN, N.D. -- An oil boom on American Indian land has brought jobs, millions of dollars and hope to long-impoverished tribal members who have struggled for more than a century on the million-acre Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.

In little more than a year, oil companies have put dozens of money-producing rigs on remote rolling prairie and sprawling badlands that are home to small cattle ranches and scattered settlements of modular housing. Although other tribes around the nation have oil interests, industry officials said none has likely experienced a recent windfall of this scale.

A friend asked me yesterday if i'd heard of 'fracking', i said yes - i remembered this thread.

It looks like the attempts to protect the groundwater isn't always as achievable as its made to look.
