What cigar did you smoke tonight?

A. Fuente Anejo #49. The are the churchill sizes that had the wrapper age 6-8 months in Cognac casks. A truly upscale cigar!!! Had mine with a Russian Gun Imperial Stout and a Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Paired better with the beer.

Tonight a nice Rocky Patel Old World Reserve Toro with water. I tried to pair it with Wild Turkey Rare Breed but the flavours really clashed. Went much better with water...

A Tatuatje Verocu No 9 with Young's Double Chocolate Stout.

There is nothing like this cigar from the cuban side. Dark earthy flavours. I've heard that it has a dark cherry note. I wouldn't describe it that way but I get what that reviewer meant. The stout complementd it perfectly!!!

and conflict ensues! ha ha... just kidding, probably not here.

Nic puros have a very unique flavor, and many argue that it is the perfect rival to Cuban tobacco - not because of the similarities, but because they are both unique. Lot of pepper and earth in the Nicaraguan sticks.

Stouts and porters seem to pair well a lot with strong cigars. I have a few Tats and my initial inclination is to pair it with a highland... seems that highlands tend to work well with peppery sticks... maybe a Talisker too, to see if you can pull out other flavors if the peppers cancel each other...

I see what you mean doggie. Yeah, some may take issue with that statement. I'm only talking though my own experiance of course.

Tonight a Gurkha Titan. Despite the frown on Gurkhas on cigar boards I liked this one a lot. Paired with coffee it did really well!!!

An Oliva "V" Lancero and an Oliva "G" Maduro Robusto both with a stout. The Lancero was its usual stellar self, but the "G" was suprisingly good. Typical maduro flavours (dark earthy) but soft.

Oliva "G" Diadema and Fuller's London Porter. Nice pairing although the beer overwelmed the stick a little bit.

Fuente Anejo 55 with Flor de Cana 21. The larger ring guage Anejos seem to be a bit lighter in body then their small ring-guage siblings.
