In days gone by when I sold whisky I had a couple of Canadian customers, but they never wanted whisky shipped directly to them, usually to friends just over the border.

Meanwhile, back to the present and thanks to the availability of inexpensive small samples, I have been treated once again by Mrs Malty to a few which I hope to get hold of in the next week-ish:

Glen Douglas & Craiglodge which will fill two more of my distillery 'want' gaps.
Bruichladdich Black Art
Bruichladdich 21y Oloroso
Garnheath 40y single grain (another gap filled)
Glen Albyn 29y
Glenfiddich Rich Oak 14y
Glenfiddich Carib. Rum 21y
Greenore 15y
Inishowen (another gap filled)
Glenglassaugh 32y
Black Bull 40y

Plus a few more 'surprises' coming in the near future :D
Oh, how could I forget the forum bottling too :D

A couple of 1971s to celebrate my upcoming 40th (and maybe one to keep for my 50th if I'm still kicking around).....

- G&M Macallan Speymalt (tasted at one of JTs tastings and it was awesome, just nosing it was fab);
- G&M Longmorn (sampled at '09 WhiskyFringe, in the same vein as the above, old sherried and complex).

Many thanks to Willie for posting tasting notes for both recently :-)

I never thought I'd be considering a spend of £100+ on a bottle of whisky, I blame you lot, you are all evil

Here, I keep getting these strange payments of £50 and £100 in my bank account, anyone else experiencing this? ;-)

I would consider the Longrow 10 100 proof. At 57% and only a couple quid more than the 10, it's also superior imo, as is the Longrow CV.

I do keep thinking of the Mortlach 70y & Dalmore Tinitus.

But as I haven't won the lottery I guess there's no harm in just thinking about it.

Thanks for the tip, I'm actually on my fourth bottle of the 100 proof at the moment, it's one of my favourites. CV isn't bad either.

The regular Longrow 10 is a bottling I haven't had yet for some reason, and my previous experience of the 14 was not really pleasant, but that's over two years ago so I want to retry with a newer batch.

I am thinking of getting some sample packs. The 5x5cl Highland Park (12, 15, 18, 25, 30) retails for $65 CAD which doesnt seem that bad at my government monopoly shop considering it seems to be sold at ~£40 on many sites.

There are a few Talisker 3x20cl left going at $75CAD, a little more but I miss the 18yo and DE(I think its the 96-08 one)

I dont know why I posted this here, dont really need 'feedback' on any of those samples since I tried most of them except HP15 and 30. :? I guess it doesnt hurt to jot down your future purchasing thoughts somewhere. 8-)

I bought HP sampler a couple of times. I think that it is a good deal (looking at the price of 30YO) and it helped me to decide between 25YO and 30YO.
Please remember that Talisker sampler has 57' North instead of 18YO.

I guess this turned into a feedback post. :)

What is the 30 like compared to the 25? The 25 I had was the one prior, 50.7% though. They must have changed the Talisker samplers from 2 years ago, whats the 57' North like?

I prefer HP 25YO. HP 30YO is more complex and has very interesting interplay between different flavours but 25YO is "bigger" and bolder. I like whiskies matured in first fill sherry cask. I like older Karuizawa and Yamazaki 18YO, for instance.
I did not try Talisker 57' North. It is, as you know, relatively young NAS whisky that some like quite a bit. I wanted to try Talisker 18YO and did not get the Talisker sampler.

I wish I had another opportunity to buy some of that Yamazaki 18. It's #1 on my wanted list for over a year and I never had it before. The anticipation....

It seems Base Line in Edmonton has it. Although in CAN, probably not much of help, as you are in ON. In the US quite a number of shops still have it, around $100.

the bad news, of course, is that i will now be placing regular orders.

predictably, my second order is not moving as quickly. the first one was processed and dispatched in less than 24 hours from the time i clicked on the purchase button on the site. the second one has not yet been processed, 36 hours later.
