Colour: gold (no E150 declared on the bottle)
Nose: leather, peat, little smoke, floral, motoroil, tarry rope
Palate: spices, quite dry, cinnamon, wood, spekuloos (Spekulatious for the Krauts)
Finish: More on oak, spices, peat, ash
Final thoughts: I compared this to the Laphroaig CS 10YO (with water) to see who's the producer. They are not alike one bit, so that option is ruled out. Too much citrus and less on the Band-Aid by comparison. The Laphroaig wins (of course).
It's similar to the Smokehead I had a while back i.e. it's rather simple. It's also less clean and offers a slight advantage in complexity, but also less smoke. I have no experience with over-oaked whisky, but I guess this is the direction these whiskies go.
