I'm Still Here is a brilliant film. A friend of mine told me it was a true documentary, i'll put him right later. Joaquin Phoenix is truly brilliant in this.

I'm Still Here is a 2010 mockumentary film directed by Casey Affleck, and written by Affleck and Joaquin Phoenix. The film purports to follow the life of Phoenix, from the announcement of his retirement from acting, through his transition into a career as a hip hop artist. Filming officially began on January 16, 2009 at a Las Vegas nightclub. Throughout the filming period, Phoenix remained in character for public appearances, giving many the impression that he was genuinely pursuing a new career.
The film premiered at the 67th Venice International Film Festival on September 6, 2010. It had a limited release in the United States on September 10, 2010 before being expanded to a wide release a week later on September 17. Although widely suspected to be a "mockumentary", the fact that the events of the film had been deliberately staged was not disclosed until after the film had been released.

I just watched Highlander. Not a "good film" exactly, save for the 80ies flavor, the Eilean Donan Castle and the Queen Soundtrack :D

Edit: Anyone agrees that in the 80ies they used to build real cars, I'm talking about American cars mostly... It's a shame seeing where the car industry went in the US (and elsewhere) :(

This was ok, but as usual the ending could be a little better. In fact the film could have been much better, a wasted opportunity.

the hunting party - 3 journalists set out to find the most wanted war criminal in bosnia/serbia..

the host - korean monster movie. great balance of tension, drama and humour. well worth a watch.

the green hornet - daft action, quite entertaining despite a weak storyline.

ip man - good martial arts flick about the man who trained bruce lee

valhalla rising - beautifully filmed but weird and slow paced. wasn't entirely sure what was going on tbh. some gory moments and good fights.

True Grit (2011) - having never seen the original can't compare but this was a good film in its own right. if you like the coen brothers or westerns this is worth a go.

I watched "You don't know Jack", a TV film that aired on HBO some time last year.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1132623/

Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman (you know him from The big Lebowski or Treme) to name a few actors in there.
A movie about a doctor in the early 90s who advocates in favor of euthanasia, helping people to die the way they want while being on the edge of legality.
It won't change you mind about that issue but you should watch it.

The Japanese 'mockumentary' style horror Noroi. Very watchable, and not overly complicated at all ( this was the critics main gripe ).

I met Howard Marks on the street in Pushkar Rajasthan. Had a bit of a laugh while he signed loads of 'fake' copies of his book in my friends bookshop ( i still have one ). He couldn't have cared less that they were fake  He came across as a good guy, i warned him of the dodgy hash that was around, he kept shaking my hand.

:-o For a pothead this must be like a catholic nun meeting the pope :D

I've seen a good series on BBC 2 tonight, the Island Parish. It was about the preachers in Barra and South Uist, but there were some nice portraits of Islanders and beautiful pictures of the land/sea-scape... Excellent.

Ah yes, and if you want to see real crazy stuff, just turn on the TV and have a look at what's happening in Egypt right now. It's revolution out there!

Check this site out Peat, excellent journalism all the time but the "chaos in Cairo" coverage is here ( some good links in the text ) -

The American. I enjoyed this a lot. One of those 'European' atmosphere movies where there's no soundtrack and not so much dialogue. I enjoyed the minimalism.

Iron Man II. I didn't enjoy this. Downey Jr is irritating and it's too 'family' orientated. Good sound effects though, the old amp and speakers had fun.
