Targetting Smaller Producers First?

Postby Mark C » 31 Jan 2011, 19:52

I had a discussion with peaty001 today about Burn Stewart taking the lead on this and thinking that it might be an idea to approach smaller companies, perhaps with a small number of distilleries like Burn Stewart, and trying to get them to follow Burn Stewart. This might be a way of building momentum from within the industry bit by bit rather than trying to change the whole industry at once?

In marketing, wont some smaller producers target the niche instead?

I think this is a good idea, they will see the market appeal as it is that type of market they are after. The big guys will see the improvement in sales the smaller guys are having and want a piece of the action. Of course it will not happen over night but I think this is a good tactic
...in my opinion

As a first target, yes. But if we could convince some of the smaller players to follow Burn Stewart then in effect we might get something to snowball which would have an even greater impact.
