If they allow my expenses (all very honest and lawful) it might not be an out-right comedy , but I wont be in the red.

"The Sisters Brothers" by Patrick DeWitt. Very good classic Western about 2 hit-men brothers in the wild west. It's gritty & funny at the same time.

Have you not read it?! Go NOW and start...

Never contributed to this part before but currently:

Last Night in Twisted River, John Irving
The Hell of it all, Charlie Brooker (a present - being a Ludite I had not heard of him but the book is amusing)
A dreadfully dull Education book

"The Sojourn" by Andrew Krivak - A WWI story - excellent writing & this is his first book. I'm guessing he will be on several book prize shortlists for this.

"Caleb's Crossing" by Geraldine Brooks
A novel about the first Native American (Caleb Cheeshahteaumauk) to graduate Harvard College in 1665. The story is a bit slow at times but interesting.

"A Moment In The Sun" by John Sayles. Huge historical fiction tome (955 pg.). Starts w/the Yukon gold rush & then on & on through several countries at the turn of the twentieth century. Really good if you enjoy literary historical fiction.

Please Look After Mom by Kyong-Sook Shin - Very good - makes you think about your relationship with your mother.

Bright's Passage by Josh Ritter (the songwriter)- Another good WWI novella but with a very different twist.

The Ghost Rider by Ismail Kadare - Kind of boring IMO but well written.

I'm reading The Corner by David Simon. It is not the most joy filled of books (although quite excellent).

I read that for a book club at the end of last year. I hated almost every character in the book, which didn't make it the easiest of reading...
