If you want a refreshing pale ale have you tried Fullers Bengal Lancer?

Fullers makes some great ESB!. Sadly no Bengal Lancer around here : (, well gotta hope that someone starts importing it. Thanks for the tip, gonna write it down and start spying if it appears on shelves!

There is Nogne O IPA out there, but I just couldn't handle that awfuly sopay taste (like some liquid citrus fruit handwash it was). All tho I should try it out again sometime because I think it was bad bottle and last time I tasted it was very early spring so not the season really.

I love the Nogne Ø IPA...it's much too expensive here, though. Could the soapiness possibly have been an effect caused by something else you ate or drank before?

Yeah I think it might have been food or something like that, tho canät really remember what I ate, it was 1 or 2 months ago. Must have another bottle at some point to test it out again.

What you describe is pretty typical for a lot of IPAs I'm finding (and is why I'm generally very reserved about buying any). That grapefruit rind/piney/soapiness which to me just scrubs my tongue...

One of the uttermost crucial reasons to get up in the morning is Single Malt whisky. It may be too early too drink it but people it is never too early to think about it.

I like the SN celebration ales especially. Summerbock and Glissade I think if memory serves, but only seen those a couple of times over here. Torpedo is yummy too.

Just wish Stone made it here in some sort of quantity.

SN is great, Stone comes about twice a year, check a certain brewpuppy bar for it when it opens in the west later this year.

I just got hold of some;

Flying Dog Schwarz Double Lager
Flying Dog Imperial Porters
Sierra Nevade Barley Wine (2011 bottling)
Odell's Cut Throat Porter
Great Divides Beligca

Oh and some of the usual Brooklyn Lagers. It's good to see this many American brews coming to Edinburgh these days, the competitionis heating up here though and we dont see any Stone really anymore either (maybe once a year) and Rogue doesn't come now too. I have a feeling Dogfish head is becoming scarce too. :(

Stone are apparently looking to open a brewery in the UK, from what I was told over in the US. They'd teach Brewdog a thing or two in the process, I'd imagine.

Interesting!! What's that like?

Yesterday I purchased:

3x Theakstons Old Peculiar ( a quid a bottle in Tesco just now)
Paulaner HefeWeisse
Erdinger Wheat Beer
Weihenstephan Cloudy Wheat Beer
Tesco's American Double IPA ( made by brewdog, it's really hoppy and not a gulping beer  )

Sam Smith's is a great brewery!

Maybe so, but it's packaged, marketed, and priced as an ultra-premium beer in the US, when it is actually the cheapest beer in Yorkshire. When I found that out first-hand, I couldn't help but feel that the importer was (as you Brits so charmingly say) taking the piss. Never bought a bottle over here again. Actually, I rarely buy bottled British beer, anyway--it's pasteurized to death before it gets here, and as often as not tastes like wet cardboard. It really needs to be experienced in its native habitat, from the cask.

4 bottles of a brand new local Bruges beer called Straffe Hendrik 11 (of course at 11°). It's a dark beer that tastes a bit bitter like dark chocolate.
The only thing that tastes good in whisky is more whisky.
