Eh? Have Ardbeg not been sending Jimbo any samples this year?

If the "awards" were to go the same bottles every year there would be no need to buy a new "bible" every year. ;)

Well done, OP. I have a bottle of 21 yo and it's a nice dram which will not last very long. Best in the world? I doubt it but a fine malt, no doubt about that. Plus it came rather cheap at Edinburgh Airport which was the main reason I purchased it (as it got rather "bad" reviews from other commentators)...

Pulteney's a fine malt worthy of recognition. I thought so last week, too.

The overall list doesn't look very different from previous lists.

I pre odered my WB a few weeks ago requested a personalized message from Jim; I requested;

"Everything I know about whisky I learned from Lawrence - signed Jim Murray"

I can't wait to see what's written when it arrives!

Brilliant Lawrence! First, I hope you really did! Second, if he does write that, he will go up in my (and in most people's) estimation tremendously ;-) Would show he doesn't take himself too seriously! Do let us know....

From what I can tell, Jimbo takes himself very seriously. Have you read the conditions he gives for doing a tasting event?

Just got my copy.

It's the usual mix of brilliant insight and utter drivel. The review of Glen Moray 10 is: 'Tighter than a wine cork' and a mere 73.5 points. What on earth is that supposed to mean?

Or maybe he had to pay for the dram for a change ;)

I got back from Edinburgh yesterday, to find my copy awaiting me. I was tired, so only had a very quick scan.

The "Hicks & Healey Cornish Whiskey" Inaugural release got half a page of notes and a score of 94.5.

The "Ardbeg Feis Ile 2011" rated a paltry 67 (Jim never having been a fan of peated whiskies being matured in sherry casks, let alone ex-Pedro Ximenez casks (although he does love a dram of aged PX).

If you rate the Ardbeg Feis Ile 2011 as 67 you are incompotent as whisky reviewer. And I will state that so I reckon its not even up for discussion

That's fighting talk lol.

I just re-checked and JM did indeed award the "Ardbeg Feils Ile 2011" just 67/100.

I can't comment. I do own a couple of bottles, but haven't cracked one open as yet.

Stranger and stranger. Never seen Jimbo give an Ardbeg under 85 to my knowledge. Have LVMH annoyed him in some way?
