I quite like it. Now. First time I had it, about a year or so ago, something just didn't work well. So I took a long break from the Connecticut until about a couple of months ago. A pleasant surprise that was, I must say, thus I ordered another twenty.

Padilla Limitado yesterday. Very nice. I usually like to have a cigar after our evening meal, but it's getting a bit cold nowadays at this (6,000 ft) elevation. We now have our designated early afternoon session and it's working well. I may go with Oliva or Diesel tomorrow.

I assume these have wrappers from the Connecticut River valley? Very possibly from Massachusetts barns in and around Hatfield, fifteen or twenty miles from here, as well as Connecticut towns Enfield and Windsor, even closer to the Midden Heap. Not that I care about cigars, mind you, but I do care about geography.

You better care about geography, mister! ;)

You are most likely correct, Bruce. I do not know where these particular wrappers originate, in terms of specific location, but the stuff from Connecticut is among the best. Rocky is serious about his cigars.

I had very lovely CAO today.

I have been working my way through a box of Cohiba pequenos. It's a bit cold outside nowadays and this is a good short smoke.

Had a Ghurka Legend yesterday. One of the best cigars for my current taste. Loved that greasy wrapper.

A colleague at work wanted to have a smoke for the national holiday, so we ventured out and froze our butts. Managed to finish a Gran Habano torpedo, though.

I do have a concern Moggy - cigars have to be kept at a certain relative humidity or they dry out and smoke "hot". If you don't know about this I'd suggest you consider smoking them ASAP before they dry out. And putting them in the fridge will dry them out faster.

thanks for the info Frodo, I thought they might last ok in the tubes for a week or 2. They arrived in a zip lock bag and I have kept them in the tubes in the bag.
As I ended up trying one last night and found it enjoyable the other 2 will be gone at the weekend. if cigars become more regular i will look into proper storage solutions.

Finally! Something I have a bit of expertise with. They be fine in closed tubos for at least a month. Cigars are more resilient than most give them credit for. That being said, if you decide you like them, I'd definitely look into a humidor. A word of warning: Cigars are a slippery slope that can become more expensive than single malts. BTW, if you're not into appearances camping coolers can make wonderful humidors. Ask my wife!

I've noticed some insane prices for cigars on the websites i've browsed. I don't smoke usually so hopefully I'll be able to keep cigars to a weekly treat. having said that i may try another tonight

I ended up getting more cigars, only 14 for now, and a cheap humidor kit with hygrometer and hydration sponge thingy. A few of the cigars seem a bit dry so i'm hoping some time in the humidor will help them.

Hi Moggy:

Don't forget to get a digital hydrometer - those analog jobs just don't work very well. If you're just going to stick with the 14 sticks, perhaps get a humidi pack from somewhere on the net that will last you and you won't have to fiddle with maintaining humidity. Just a thought...

i'll be getting more cigars eventually, although my humidor only holds around 20.

Those humidipaks seem a really good idea. Anything that saves me a job is good. I'm struggling to find the humidor version uk side though. had to get them on ebay from the USA. there are plenty of them available for inside guitars but they are only 50% humidity.

thanks for the advice

I've dealt with Heartfelt Industries before. E-site that deals in cigar-related stuff. Can choose between Humidipacks in 65%, 68%, 70% or 72%. I would go for the 68% but to each their own...

Oliva V with Ron Zacapa XO. I like the Vs in lancero format but not with a larger RG. This had a bitterness that I don't wish to experiance again. That same bitterness was there with other vitolas of this line over 50 RG that I've tried in the past.

Padron Maduro something, 2000 I think. I was going to go with Black Pearl, but someone pulled Padron and said "smoke it." So I did. It's been at least year and a half since I had Padron. It was never my top smoke, but I do like it.

Zanaspus, your wife uses coolers for humidors? ;)

Welcome aboard, by the way. You too Moggy. This part of WWW can be a bit quiet and it's nice to see someone other than Chris posting.
