Murray McDavid sale imminent?

Hi there,

one of the leading German online retailers tells in the latest newsletter of rumours that the sale of independent bottler Murray McDavid shall be concluded this month. As a source "usually well informed circles" are given. Reasons none but it is stipulated one reason could be the ever increasing problems of obtaining decent casks for independent bottlers.
Another speculation is that the money is needed to revive the building of Port Charlotte distillery.

And for good meassure the rumour that the backers and owners of Bruichladdich distillery themselves are looking for potential buyers is repeated.

I would say that there is something in the procurement problem. Anything else....

I would think this is not unreasonable in regards to MMcd but think that Bruichladdich is not currently for sale but if people keep on repeating this 'newest' bit of information eventually it will come true.

Seems likely that the indi bottling thing is coming to an end given increased demand and the tailing off of lucrative barrels from deceased distilleries. Hence the move into distillery ownership.Sale of the laddie business would be more curious unless MMcD are hitting hard times and need to get the ....out of Dodge.
